The Artium Garden

From: Thursday, 05 July 2018

To: Sunday, 30 September 2018

You will find a space in the inner courtyard of Artium Museum where art and culture can be enjoyed surrounded by nature, an identifying feature of our region.

Try our activity entitled The 5 Senses or read a book, enjoy a stroll, participate in one of our workshops, have a coffee, solve an Exploration Notebook, chat with your neighbours, go downstairs to see one of our exhibitions, have a picnic... These are just some of the activities you can enjoy when you visit our Museum’s garden. A space where things happen... a place where Cultural Heritage and Natural Heritage join together to enter into a dialogue.

In the hope that our Museum garden will become popular with families, we are celebrating its opening to the public at 10am on Thursday, 5 July, when visitors will be able to stroll through it for the first time and then enjoy it all summer.
10:00am to 10:30pm. Free admission

Free guided tours
Every friday at 6:30 pm
Free access (museum ticket not necessary). Limited capacity. Mandatory registration: +34 945209020

A project that has arisen through sharing

The Artium garden is a project that has arisen from the results obtained in the Plaza, Urban Lounge case study conducted by Artium and the cultural production company Consonni. The study included the collaboration of residents, shops and the socio-cultural network of the Museum’s surroundings, including professionals from related areas, town planning and architecture representatives of Vitoria-Gasteiz and other people and agents whom we would like to thank once again for their participation.

Things you can experience in the Artium garden

Try the activity entitled The 5 Senses
Plants, fruit, flowers, substrates, stones... all these will partner us so that we can enjoy our five senses and connect with and participate in the creative process through nature.

1. Sight: We will open our eyes, for example, to primary and secondary colours.
2. Touch: What if we could caress a sculpture as we can plants and flowers?
3. Smell: So important for enjoying life yet so difficult for incorporating into the plastic arts.
4. Hearing: The most contemporary sense and most recently adopted by the art world.
5. Taste: The star sense of daily pleasures yet still to be explored in the field of art.

Solve a new Exploration Notebook
Artium’s Exploration Notebooks have become a highly appreciated activity by the people who visit us. For who can resist the challenge of exploring our exhibition rooms and solving the 10 riddles in each Notebook while enjoying the works that are on display? Including a little something to remember us by as your reward. We have created a new Exploration Notebook this summer that will lead you through our garden and connect it to the works on display in our Museum.

Take along one of our suggested books and read it quietly
For example, how would you like to take a look at Federico Garcia Lorca’s Romancero Gitano (Gypsy Ballads), a book that we will make available to you? Everything will become clear to you when you visit our Brossa Poetry exhibition. But until then, let us reveal to you that in one of the first exhibition spaces you will be able to find the copy that Brossa carried in his pocket while he was fighting in the Spanish Civil War.

Cube Artium picnic bags

Specially designed for people who want to enjoy the Artium garden and food from our Cube restaurant. Like our garden, Cube’s cuisine changes daily, so the contents of the bags will be a mystery, although of course, a very tasty one.

From 10am to 10:30pm _ Hamaiketako Bag _ €4.50
As its name (in basque) suggests, it should be at 11am, but we have extended its hours so that you can enjoy it in the morning or afternoon.
Contents: 1 pintxo of the day from the Cube Artium bar, 1 bottle of water and 1 piece of fruit.

From 1:30pm to 4pm _ Txiki Bag _ €8.50
What a good time to eat, which is exactly our proposal: enjoying a tasty meal without feeling too full. So for this bag we have included one of the first courses you can choose from the Cube Artium daily lunchtime menu.
Contents: 1 container with a first course from the daily lunchtime menu, 1 bottle of water and 1 piece of fruit.

These picnic bags are available at the Cube Artium café-restaurant.

Remember to use the recycling bins in our garden and leave the space clean for other visitors.

Enjoy your meal!
