Artium has launched the Juncal Ballestín: Life as Exercise project through a series of discussions involving various professionals and artists close to the artist’s work in order to encourage a response to it from a variety of perspectives, mediations and contexts.
At the same time, the conservation and restoration teams of the Alava Provincial Council and Artium will share with the public the processes of action and the different conservation and restoration treatments required to recover the artist’s works.
8 January
Juncal Ballestín: Screams, wounds and some objects. Juan Carlos Román. Artist and lecturer in sculpture at the University of Vigo.
We artists almost always lie. Lying in the field of art is a means of protection against insecurity, shyness or any other inner conflict one might have. Lying makes us human, but on the contrary, the art that is created rarely lies. This talk will attempt to analyse the tensions, absences and suspicions present in Juncal Ballestín’s poetics based on her exclusively objectual work.
15 January
