On the occasion of the opening of the exhibition Néstor Basterretxea. The Archive, the museum is hosting a presentation of the cycle Basterretxea and the image. The program is an audiovisual approach, jointly organised by the Punto de Vista Festival and Oteiza Museum, providing an overview of Basterretxea’s plastic and visual imaginary.
Creating a dialogue with the documents on display, the films in this season postulate on the screen some aesthetic and narrative decisions that the artist already suggested in his roles. Archive and filmography complement each other to provide a comprehensive understanding of Basterretxea’s creative processes and formal proposals.
The program includes the screening of:
Alquézar. Retablo de pasión (Nestor Basterretxea y Fernando Larruquert, 1966. 12 min), Sin título (Nestor Basterretxea. 5 min), Un retrato de NB (Peio Aguirre, 2020. 24 min), LABO (Jesús María Palacios, 2019. 14 min).
The cycle will be presented by Manuel Asín, director of the Punto de Vista Festival; J. P. Huércanos, deputy director of the Oteiza Museum; and Peio Aguirre, art critic and independent curator.
