Eros: the pleasure of reading shows a hundred books of erotic content chosen from the collection of ARTIUM's Library. Monographs about some historic figures of XX Century's arts, such as Matisse (Erotic sketches), Rodin Pablo Picasso (Art can only be erotic), Gustav Klimt, Salvador Dalí or surrealist Hans Bellmer (Anatomie du désir), much known for his works of erotic subject can be found in the exhibition. There are also some books dedicated to Fernando Botero, Antoni Miró and David Hockney, and, among basque artists, to Ana Laura Aláez (Flúor), Naia del Castillo (Trampas y seducción), Manu Muniategiandikoetxea (Larrugorrian), Estibaliz Sádaba (Bodies Parade) and Iban Arróniz (Poporn). Basque illustrator Agurtzane Villate has made some drawings of erotic subject on the walls of the Seminario Room, the one that houses the exhibition.
But the most outstanding selection of books in the exhibition is dedicated to two main figures in contemporary art. First, there are some great books by Helmut Newton, whose photographs have a personal style that make their authorship absolutely recognizable. Beauty, glamour and sensuality are noticeable in each page of books such as Archives de nuit, Sex and landscapes, Yellow pages and, above all, the gigantic Playboy. This is a retrospective selection of this german-born photographer, one of the most influential in contemporary photography. The book is a great one: 28x20 inches and 66 pounds.
Much different are the books dedicated to the second artist that is widely represented in Eros, the North American Andy Warhol, the most important representative of international pop-art. All his life Warhol developed a huge work of photographs and drawings of nude models, especially male ones. Here can be found monographs and catalogues such as El ojo mecánico, Iconos pop, Retratos de los setenta y ochenta, Nude Drawings, 365 Takes or The Andy Warhol Show. The exhibition also contains catalogues of group exhibitions, as Paris Eros, Erotisme a la plàstica contemporània, Feminimasculin. Le sexe de l'art, Women by women or Erotismo, gastronomía, or the publications of the Salón de Arte Erótico de La Habana.
