The fiction in Fiction causes us to lose our bearings or invent multiple bearings, highly contaminated by a number of disturbing realities. BlueSky is a metaphor of a world crisis in which autosuggestion and the more or less complacent acceptance of error prevail.
BlueSky is a Laboratory of fictions; a theme project, which through the intervention (individual or collective) of several artists is developing a range of different forms in several countries.
Its driving force comprises a number of strangely complex questions: In order to survive is it necessary to believe in things that we know do not exist? Is the sky blue? ... Can the ambiguity of human actions lead us to the perfect contradiction? Can Yes be the twin brother of No?...
The most important public presentations of BlueSky include, among others: “BlueSky-Laboratory of laboratories” (Telefónica Foundation of Buenos Aires), “BlueSky-Algorithms of the weekend” (Interface Gallery Dijón), “BlueSky-Pontoon Effect” (Nuit Blanche in Metz), “BlueSky-Flight simulators” (Rolapomt aerodrome), “BlueSky-The Cage” (Elba Benítez Gallery in Madrid)...
BlueSky-VGA
Since February 2009, Francisco Ruiz de Infante, with the involvement of several departments of ARTIUM and the participation as curator of Nekane Aramburu, has infiltrated BlueSky in the museum by means of a number of more or less secret, more or less public meetings: giving rise to BlueSky-VGA.
The term VGA (Video Graphics Array) refers both to the standard minimum resolution of a computer screen (640 x 480) and to the name of the most common video connector for computers. In this way, VGA is what is seen and what allows this to be seen. VGA also corresponds to the initials (Vitoria Gasteiz Artium) when associated with the BlueSky Project.
As of that moment, without predefined times or spaces, the conception and initiation of an inoculations programme began in Artium. The shop, the corridors, the media library, the exhibition rooms, the toilets, the storerooms, the auditorium and even the space inside some of the walls of the museum have been contaminated intermittently, stained with a suspicious shade of blue.
Slowly, like tentacles, BlueSky has questioned a number of habits in the institution.
During the final stage of the BlueSky-VGA project in Vitoria-Gasteiz and before the adventure is retraced in a publication, several simultaneous public presentations are going to increase its presence:
"BlueSky-VGA.doc" from October 2 to November 27-2010. Place: Seminary Gallery
This intervention has been installed in a gallery normally given over to exhibitions of the Museum's media library and, to a certain extent, taking elements from its form.
Direct or indirect references to the actions performed by Ruiz de Infante since February 2009, prosthesis, comments and attempts to multiply the spaces, make up the form and content of this particular Documentation Centre. A place in which books, films and machines on Stand-By accumulate within an enigmatic order.
"BlueSky-VGA... and the luck factor" from November 23 to January 9. Place: Praxis Gallery.
Guest artists: Paul Souviron, Félix Ramon, Paul Guilbert (+ via Skype : Anne Lise Le Gac and Fanny Chassot).
Based on a challenge made to the Museum: Introduce elements of chance linked to gambling, a part of the budget of BlueSky-VGA has been and will be used to attempt a particular addiction to gambling in Artium. Gamble to win?
During the time BlueSky-VGA is present in the gallery, two choral actions of agents involved in this new intervention will be produced. Likewise, an evolutionary issue of the fanzine associated with Praxis will be published.
"BlueSky-VGA / HardDisc-The door" from November 23 to 27. Place: "Front Wall".
Ruiz de Infante will slowly build an audiovisual device in which messages, times and spaces will be filled with instabilities: a diagram written on the wall beside a disturbing door will come to life in order to activate rumours in the museum.
“Sum of Factors” followed by “The Stone of New York (symphony)”
Saturday, November 27. 7 PM (Places: Praxis Gallery, Front Wall, Higher East Gallery)
As a climax to the presence of BlueSky at Artium, the guest artists will propose a guided visit to the performances.
At the end of the visit, Ruiz de Infante and the composer Christian Sebille will perform the concert “The Stone of New-York”. This audiovisual experience is built on the amplification of the actions produced on a large worktable. On it, aquariums, earth, animals and control machines are catapulted towards the large video screens and a sound immersion system.
The Stone of New York is a Coproduction of ARTIUM, CaixaForum Barcelona, Césaré Studio de Création Musical Reim, Association Autour de la Terre and will be visible in Artium thanks to the participation of the cultural service of the French Embassy in Spain.
